Oíche Shamhna Hug Shrug Cardigan – Irish Crafts

Samhain is the ancient Celtic festival which marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter.  It is also the Celtic new year.  The black and purple of this cardigan represent Samhain’s traditional association with dark colours and the thinning veil between the living and the dead.  The orange represents the modern introduction of pumpkins to Halloween celebrations.

The cardigan is made with a blend of chunky stitches and is edged with a boarder on the main body and sleeves. The edging on the main body has a slight outward curve.

It can be styled a number of ways as a jumper can fit under the sleeves for chillier days and it can easily be worn in warmer weather too. The cardigan is designed to be an oversized fit and has a boho feel to it.

Whatever way you choose to style the Oíche Shamhna cardigan, it will feel like a hug.

The cardigan is one size and is made from approx. 110cm square piece and fits anywhere from a 10-16 depending on desired fit (if you require further sizing information or have any sizing requests, please contact me as I can modify it).
